In the challenging socio-economic context of Afghanistan, where opportunities for women are frequently restricted, Bebe Samina, a resilient mother of four and the sole provider for her family, embarked on a transformative journey. Motivated by necessity and the desire to uplift her household, she seized the opportunity to participate in the vocational tailoring training provided by the Organization for Development, Rehabilitation, and Health (ODRH). “I am grateful for this opportunity,” she shared. “Through this training, I found a path to independence.” Under the structured guidance from ODRH, Bebe Samina received comprehensive instruction in tailoring techniques, pattern design, and garment construction. Her commitment and perseverance were evident throughout the training, where she emerged as one of the most promising trainees. Following her completion of the training program, she began preparations to establish a small, home-based tailoring business, which would not only generate an income but also confer dignity, purpose, and recognition within her community. Currently, Bebe Samina is progressing toward independence. With a growing client base, affirming the value of her skills and hard work. Most importantly, significantly, she is now able to afford her children's education, healthcare, and daily needs. Her journey from vulnerability to empowerment exemplifies the transformative impact of vocational training on the lives of women.
